Heart
A beautiful sheepskin with an unmistakable hearth-shaped spot. I didn’t notice the heart shape until after I had pulled the hide out of its pickle bath—on Valentine’s Day! Even without the heart, it is a special sheepskin—it is so fluffy and the fibers are crimpy and spotty and multicolored. There are some dark and light brown spots on the surface, and some spotting down the length of the fibers. This hide was bark-tanned with love and devotion by me. To be transparent, I am pricing this sheepskin higher than I normally would because I want to keep it. I think the pattern and texture are particularly special, and though I don’t have space for any more sheepskins, I would make space for this one. 43x26”
When measuring, I measured down the middle for both length and width. Some parts of the hide will be longer and some will be shorter. I measured the leather side. Fiber often extends beyond the leather.
I live with dogs, so please consider that if you are extremely allergic. These hides will become softer with time and use. I wash and comb these sheepskins multiple times, but you will still find pieces of organic matter in them once in awhile—it’s impossible to get it all out! They will also smell like lanolin to some degree, which not everyone is used to. You can wash them sparingly (if you’d like more info on this, check out my faq). If you ever decide you don’t want this hide, please compost it or leave it to decay into the woods—don’t throw it in a landfill!
If you would like to arrange a payment plan, I’d be happy to do so with you—please email me at azizathemouse@proton.me! I am not accepting returns at this time, so please ask any and all questions before you buy
