This Vest was entirely hand sewn out of three different bark-tanned sheepskins. I dyed the blue sheepskin and the thread I used to sew the trim on with indigo. The trim is vintage percale cotton from my Grandma's stash, which makes it extra special to me. The button is a piece of abalone. This vest can be worn open or buttoned. The wrap style of the vest along with way the leather tie wraps around the shell makes the sizing fairly adjustable (which I find to be nice because I wear vests over sweaters). If you'd like the closure to be a leather loop instead, just email me after you have made your purchase and we can make the placement of the loop specific to your size.

Shoulders: 16”

Waist: 21”
Measurements at the Smallest (closed all the way):
Shoulders: 15.5”

I have been feeling pretty burnt out lately, but slowing down and hand sewing this was vest truly a joy. I hope this vest is imbued with that feeling, as well as the feeling of a chain of beloved elders standing behind you solidly and putting their hands on your back. And a hug from a grandma too. Or sitting inside and watching the rain fall on a summer afternoon.
