Where the Ocean Meets the Sand
The fibers on this bark-tanned sheepskin are so soft and fluffy and dense. A beautiful range of creams, greys, and browns. This sheepskin would be a lovely bedroll or statement rug. This sheepskin had begun to rot when I got to it (which made the leather come out nice and soft), but because of this, there are small holes around the border (the biggest is about the size of a quarter). I stitched up a big tear and patched a bigger hole. None of this is visible on the fiber side. I had purchased the patch because I loved it and had planned to keep it for myself, but I thought it was the perfect match for the beauty of this skin. I think it makes it extra-special. The patch reads ‘heaven is earth’ and was a collaboration between Corinne Loperfido https://www.corinneloperfido.com/ and Theo Eliezer https://www.instagram.com/theodora.eliezer/
46×31”
When measuring, I measured down the middle for both length and width. Some parts of the hide will be longer and some will be shorter. I measured the leather side. Fiber often extends beyond the leather.
I live with dogs, so please consider that if you are extremely allergic. These hides will become softer with time and use. I wash and comb these sheepskins multiple times, but you will still find pieces of organic matter in them once in a while—it’s impossible to get it all out! They will also smell like lanolin to some degree or another, which not everyone is used to. You can wash them sparingly (if you’d like more info on this, check out my faq). If you ever decide you don’t want this hide, please compost it or leave it to decay into the woods—don’t throw it in a landfill!
If you would like to arrange a payment plan, I’d be happy to do so with you—please email me at azizathemouse@proton.me
I am not accepting returns at this time, so please ask any and all questions before you buy.
